Malpractice News: Illinois Doctors Named in Lawsuit
Malpractice News: A medical malpractice lawsuit was filed in August 2008 against two doctors from Glen Carbon, Illinois for errors occurring during a patient’s knee replacement surgery.
The plaintiff alleges the two doctors, who performed replacement surgery on both her knees, resulted in permanent nerve damage and joint failure. The lawsuit stated the plaintiff’s injuries were caused by trauma and positioning of the leg and foot. The woman developed a condition known as peroneal palsy, which causes a loss of movement and other functions of the leg and foot. The condition required the plaintiff to wear a brace.
The plaintiff also claimed she needed complete revision surgeries on both knees after one year. The components used in knee replacement surgeries are typically last 10-15 years after a revision surgery.
