February 26, 2009 -- Opening arguments began in New Brunswick superior court yesterday in a medical malpractice case filed by the family of a 21-year-old man who died the morning after his wisdom teeth were removed in surgery.
The family of the deceased accuses the man’s Middlesex County dentist and oral surgeon for his death because both knew he suffered from an immune deficiency disease that causes parts of his body to swell after trauma.
The young man died in 2005 when his larynx swelled and blocked his airway after his teeth were pulled by the Perth Amboy-based oral surgeon.
