Florida hospital loses medical malpractice case involving death of couple's infant
A Florida jury has ordered a local hospital involved in a medical malpractice case to pay a Port Charles couple $365,000 for failing to detect pre-birth defects that caused their baby’s death.
The infant boy died three days after he was placed on a respirator, suffering from a syndrome that was not detected by hospital testing. Ultrasound tests conducted incorrectly by the hospital staff failed to include key images, including a chamber view of the infant’s heart.
