Missouri jury sides with parents in malpractice case
St. Louis doctor negligent in birth of stillborn

July 1, 2008 -- After an eight-day trial in a Missouri medical malpractice case, a jury in St. Louis County Circuit Court awarded $150,000 to a St. Peters couple in the stillborn death of their son four years ago.

The jury ruled against a Missouri doctor and a women's healthcare association in Creve Coeur, and absolved another doctor of any negligence.

The jury concluded that the St. Louis doctor who delivered the baby was negligent in failing to act more quickly to deliver the baby or do different and additional fetal testing while the baby was in distress.
