Montana doctor settles three medical malpractice cases. Free lawsuit review via the form below.

June 11, 2008 -- A Montana physician and anesthesiologist recently settled three medical malpractice cases that charged negligence when pain treatment resulted in death, the AP reported today.

The doctor was accused of prescribing potentially lethal doses of pain medication to two patients, and failing to properly treat another patient who developed an infection. All three patients died.

Here are brief descriptions of the three cases recently settled by plaintiffs’ attorneys:

  • The widow and daughter of a 41-year-old Laurel man who died in December 2000 claimed the doctor surgically inserted a pump and catheters into the man’s abdomen that pumped pain medication directly into his spine. The man was being treated for back pain, but developed an infection that eventually led to meningitis. He suffered a heart complication during surgery and died the next day.

  • The widower and three children of a Livingston woman said the doctor prescribed lethal doses of methadone that eventually led to the death of the children’s mother. An autopsy declared there were “very high levels of methadone” in her body.

  • The most recent lawsuit against the doctor was filed in March by the widow of a 31-year-old Roundup man. The malpractice lawsuit claimed the man, who died in November 2003, was “prescribed medication in sufficient quantity to cause respiratory and cardiac depression.”

Proving negligence wins a fair verdict or settlement for a victim’s family. To receive a free evaluation of the merits in your medical malpractice complaint, please fill out the form below and send it to Weitz & Luxenberg, the largest personal injury law firm in New York.
