Mother sues Watertown, NY, doctor for malpractice in baby's fatal delivery . . .

July 21, 2008 A former Watertown, N.Y., doctor has been sued for medical malpractice over the death of a newborn girl in 2007, according to papers filed at the Jefferson County clerk's office this week.

The malpractice lawsuit charges the doctor, who now lives in Albany, Ga., with negligence in caring for the plaintiff and her daughter, who died at Samaritan Medical Center two hours after her birth April 3, 2007. The hospital is not named in the lawsuit, according to a report by the Watertown Daily Times in upstate New York.

The plaintiff alleges that the doctor failed to fully inform her of the risks and the alternatives to applicable medical treatments. The infant reportedly died of cardiopulmonary failure.
