$3M in medical malpractice settlements for five West Virginia patients injured in surgery
July 31, 2008 – The state medical malpractice insurer in West Virginia will pay a total of $3 million to five people who sued a former osteopathic surgeon for medical malpractice, the Associated Press reported yesterday.
The plaintiffs’ malpractice lawsuits are among 124 stemming from surgeries the doctor performed at Putnam General Hospital between November 2002 and June 2003.
The doctor, who has filed a Chapter 7 bankruptcy petition, now lives in Alabama. He has surrendered his medical license in a number of states, including West Virginia.
