July 30, 2008 – A medical center and doctor paid $393,000 to a family who claimed medical malpractice when their baby daughter developed a staph infection in her umbilical cord stump.
The doctor’s misdiagnosis and delayed treatment allowed the infection to spread and cause serious problems. According to the malpractice lawsuit, she developed bacteremia, endocarditis, cerebritis and osteomyelitis.
