New York, March 7, 2008 -- A professional cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Michael Evan Sachs, 57, with offices at 128 Central Park South, has been charged with medical malpractice in cases involving four patients, one of whom died, according to the New York State Office of Professional Medical Conduct. Surgery cases like this require a lawyer.
A woman named Kathleen Kelly Cregan, who had traveled all the way from Ireland to have a face lift performed by Dr. Sachs, reportedly died while in his care in 2005. A malpractice suit over Ms. Cregan’s death is currently pending. Meanwhile, the doctor surrendered his medical license to authorities and has agreed to cease practicing medicine.
A spokesperson for the city medical examiner said that Dr. Sachs’s surgery was a significant contributing factor to Ms. Cregan’s death. This doctor reportedly had already settled 33 malpractice lawsuits by 2005.
