A Negligence Malpractice Case in Niagara Leads to a $9 Million Award

July, 2008 - More than $9 million has been awarded by a Niagara County jury to woman due to medical malpractice negligence. Insurance is expected to cover court-ordered payments to the husband and two children of the victim, whose death four years ago is being in part attributed to negligence on the part of a famed Western New York surgeon with almost 50 years experience.

The amount includes retroactive damages and other “pecuniary” compensation for the period of time following the patient's death to the present, and into the future.
