Most patients are unconcerned when they go into a simple outpatient surgery. But one pro golfer experienced malpractice in a routine procedure that cost him his career and almost took his life, reported KUTV.com on May 15, 2008.

According to the news report, three years ago, a P.G.A. golfer needed to have an out-patient surgery to correct his acid reflux.

That common procedure, however, turned deadly when his aorta was sliced through in a near-deadly case of malpractice.

A cardiovascular surgeon nearby rushed in and stopped the bleeding. In the process, several of Jason’s organs were severely damaged.

The report says that the golfer is now dependant on a feeding tube and I.V.’s, 24 hours a day.

He has filed a malpractice lawsuit against the doctor who performed his surgery as well as the hospital.
