Medical malpractice case involving failure to detect vital organ deformities
A jury has awarded a couple over $300,000 in a medical malpractice case against a hospital, according to the News-Press in Florida on June 4, 2008.
According to the report, the couple said the hospital was responsible for the wrongful death of their boy who was born with several deformities to internal organs, as well as his face.
The article said he was placed on a respirator and died three days later.
His mother had had an ultrasound during her twenty-second week of pregnancy and the hospital interpreted the results as normal.
The mother and father opted to bring a medical malpractice lawsuit as they contended that the ultrasound was incomplete.
