Medical Malpractice News: Symptoms of Sarcoidosis
Medical Malpractice News: Sarcoidosis occurs when the body’s immune system essentially “overreacts” to an inhaled airborne substance, which in turn, causes the body’s immune system to fight a perceived infection. Since the early symptoms of the disease can easily be mistaken for other common ailments, the disease is difficult to diagnose.
Typical symptoms of sarcoidosis include a persistent cough, shortness of breath, fever, weight loss, an outbreak of small red bumps on the face, arms or buttocks or arthritis in the ankles, elbows and/or hands.
Many sarcoidosis patients develop a mild form of the disease and suffer no long-term effects of the illness. However, in other patients, the disease can cause permanent damage to the affected organs.
