Michigan Supreme Court upholds $2.3M jury award in medical malpractice amputation case
July 29, 2008 – The Michigan Supreme Court last week affirmed a $2.3 million jury award in a medical malpractice case filed by a Jackson man, whose legs were amputated after a missed diagnosis of an aneurysm.
The Supreme Court concluded last week that the plaintiffs had proven medical malpractice.
The plaintiff and his wife filed a malpractice lawsuit in Jackson County Circuit Court against the man’s doctor, Foote Hospital and Jackson Radiology Consultants – and won in 2004.
The Michigan Court of Appeals sided with the plaintiff in 2007, and the high court upheld the verdict in an 80-page ruling.
