Health Alert: Meningitis Vaccine Carries Risk for Guillain-Barre Syndrome

Health Alert; The FDA is reporting that a total
of 15 people became ill with Guillain-Barre Syndrome after taking a meningitis
vaccine.
Guillain-Barre Syndrome is characterized by increasing weakness
in the legs and arms, sometimes severe enough to cause paralysis.
Thus
far, the affected individuals are between the ages of 11 and 19, and who became
sick after receiving a Menactra shot, made by Sanofi Pasteur.
All
individuals have been reported as recovering.
