Mercury Found in Colorado's Horsetooth Reservoir

Fish containing high levels of mercury were pulled from Colorado's Horsetooth Reservoir. They were informed of the danger when the Department of Environmental Health held an informal meeting regarding to the Fort Collins Reservoir.

Although they are unaware of the source of the mercury, officials warn that a series of fish in the area including:

  • white bass
  • wiper
  • walleye They should not be eaten by anyone to avoid contamination, but the health risk is especially high for children under the age of six and pregnant women.
