In recent news about the dangers of asbestos, a building custodian died of mesothelioma after being exposed to asbestos throughout his working life.

The building custodian worked at a hospital in the city for 22 years and frequently in the presence of asbestos while carrying out his role in maintenance.

He died just weeks after having been diagnosed with mesothelioma.

He released a statement before his death from mesothelioma, claiming that he received no health and safety equipment to protect him from dust and debris containing asbestos.

The building custodian's widow recalled that "When he came home sometimes he was covered in white dust. The children used to run up to him when he came home from work."
