In recent news about the dangers of exposure to asbestos, a former welder has won a hard-fought battle for lawsuit compensation, after being diagnosed with mesothelioma cancer.
The welder, who is 76, used to work in engineering, stripping off asbestos insulation on pipes, turbines and boilers when conducting maintenance and repairs.
In September 2007, he began to develop severe chest pains and underwent a biopsy and other medical tests.
He learned shortly thereafter that he had mesothelioma cancer, which was caused by inhaling tiny fragments of asbestos during his time as a welder.
Luckily, the welder has defied the doctors’ prognosis of six-nine months life expectancy, and is alive to receive the mesothelioma lawsuit compensation.
