Worker’s mesothelioma diagnosis related to repair of carriages

The Swindon Advertiser has reported on the mesothelioma diagnosis of a railroad employee who repaired carriages in the 1950s and 1960s.

The man began working with carriages as a teenager. He was diagnosed with mesothelioma in August of 2008. Only a few months after his diagnosis, his illness had weakened him to the point where he could only manage to walk for short durations. He stated that neither he nor his co-workers were warned of the lethal dangers of asbestos exposure.
