MESOTHELIOMA HEALTH
Health care worker diagnosed with mesothelioma recalls being exposed to asbestos dust in an old hospital she worked at.
A former nurse in the U.K. who spent her life caring for other people's health was diagnosed with the asbestos-related disease mesothelioma, the Norwich Evening News recently reported.
The health care worker said she believes she was exposed to asbestos dust while working in an old hospital.
The nurse told the News (a daily newspaper published in Norwich, Norfolk, England) that asbestos insulation wraps were on the pipes at the hospital where she worked, and that created dusty working conditions.
She remembers that the old pipes in the basement hallways were covered in asbestos lagging and that she used to go down there several times a day.
The health care worker also said that maintenance men worked on the pipes and she was sometimes expected to clean up after them.
Sadly, this situation, where exposure to asbestos was easily preventable, is all too familiar to the attorneys in the Weitz & Luxenberg P.C. Asbestos Litigation unit here in the United States.
