Man with Mesothelioma Exposed to Asbestos During Home Renovations. A common, often tragic occurrence.
A 58-year-old man in Australia who invented a swimming-pool water-saving filter, and did home renovations, lost his battle for life six months ago, when he succumbed to mesothelioma.
His Supreme Court trial heard he could have made up to $50 million in royalties from his invention, according to the Herald Sun newspaper.
His estate has set up a charity fund for those who suffer from asbestos illnesses.
The article said he was exposed to the asbestos while doing DIY at his home. Such exposure is very common, making it imperative that people take the proper precautions when doing renovation work to a house or apartment.
Reportedly, manufacturer James Hardie and distributor Wunderlich settled his claim.
Sadly, this situation is all too familiar to the attorneys in the Weitz & Luxenberg P.C. Asbestos Litigation unit here in the United States.
