MESOTHELIOMA HOUSEWIFE
A deadly case of secondhand asbestos exposure
Personal account of a mesothelioma housewife, dead from secondhand asbestos exposure.
“I was married in 1958 and my husband, Dick, worked with asbestos his whole career. When I was diagnosed, the doctor directed a number of questions to my husband about the work he had done over the years, and asked if he was ever exposed to asbestos. Dick clearly answered ‘Yes.’
During that visit, the doctor specifically asked me if I did my husband's laundry. I thought that was an odd question, but that's how the doctors say I was exposed. Asbestos dust was on his clothing, and I became exposed just by carrying his clothes from the hamper to the laundry room.
I never thought that dust could be harmful to my health. The saddest part is that my husband felt responsible for the fact that I was dying.”

Mesothelioma housewife story is not unique
The above story about indirect secondhand asbestos exposure is not an isolated case. Many people die from asbestos-related illnesses through secondhand exposure (i.e., after coming in contact with asbestos fibers when washing the clothes of someone who worked with it).
Housewives married to construction workers, auto mechanics, boiler repairmen and other professions that involve regular asbestos exposure, all run the risk of contracting mesothelioma through secondhand asbestos exposure.
Such very specialized cases can be immensely difficult to prove, yet the law firm of Weitz & Luxenberg P.C. consistently prevails in such asbestos cases.
Weitz & Luxenberg has protected the legal rights of workers since 1986. And in that time the firm's mesothelioma lawyers have won several billion dollars in verdicts and settlements for clients injured by job-related asbestos exposure.
