A man has filed an asbestos lawsuit on behalf of his deceased father, a laborer, against a dozen companies, claiming the mesothelioma with which his father was diagnosed was wrongfully caused, reported the Madison County Record on September 2, 2008.
His father was diagnosed with the asbestos-related disease last year and died just a few months later.
According to the Record, his father worked for 40 years as a laborer and heavy equipment operator.
The lawsuit alleges that it was in those jobs that his father was exposed to and inhaled the deadly asbestos fibers and dust.
The son is alleging in the asbestos lawsuit that the mesothelioma cancer forced his father to pay large amounts for medical expenses. He also claims his father experienced great physical pain and mental anguish as a result of the disease.
Many laborers have come forward to say their work environment led to a diagnosis of mesothelioma, asbestosis or lung cancer from asbestos.
