A woman in Rochester, New York whose husband, a sheet metal worker, died in 2006 at age 58 from mesothelioma, has launched an Internet site to help others cope with the rare cancer, which is related to asbestos exposure, reported the Democrat & Chronicle newspaper on Feb. 26, 2008.
Most people who develop mesothelioma have worked on jobs where they inhaled asbestos particles. Her husband was exposed to asbestos on construction projects.
The article reported that her husband traveled to New York City for chemotherapy, surgery and radiation.
The website, meso-westernny.com, offers critical information for those with the disease, including travel instructions, mesothelioma resources, books and an online forum where people can post questions and get support.
Sadly, our firm has come across many such stories where men and women toiled unprotected from asbestos, later developing mesothelioma, lung cancer and asbestosis as a result of that exposure.
For over two decades, Weitz & Luxenberg P.C. has handled some of the most legally complicated and groundbreaking asbestos litigation in the country.
Men and women diagnosed with mesothelioma or lung cancer caused by asbestos exposure or secondary exposure may be entitled to compensation from the companies responsible for their disease.
