The Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City and the pharmaceutical company Eli Lily are conducting a clinical trial study on the use of chemotherapy treatment and intensity modulated radiation therapy in patients diagnosed with malignant pleural mesothelioma.
In this study, patients will first complete a course of chemotherapy with Pemetrexed and Cisplatin, after which they will undergo a course of the experimental radiation therapy. According to the researchers, this new radiation therapy technique has less serious side effects for lung cancer patients than traditional radiation therapy.
At this time, the study is only being conducted at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. For additional information about this study, contact Kenneth Rosenszweig, M.D. or Lee Krug, M.D. at Sloan-Kettering.
