Mesothelioma cancer a risk for railroad laborers. Contact our asbestos attorneys if you were hurt.
In recent news about the harm asbestos has caused laborers in the U.S., a railroad laborer filed an asbestos lawsuit after being diagnosed with mesothelioma cancer.
The man says he worked from 1945 until 1948 as a laborer at Southern Pacific Railroad.
He was also exposed to asbestos in other jobs: when he worked in 1946 as a laborer in the U.S. Navy; from 1949 until 1984 as a laborer in the construction industry, and from 1948 until 1962 as a laborer at Northrop Grumman.
According to cout papers, the man says his exposure to asbestos was avoidable and should have been anticipated by his former employers.
He has filed the lawsuit, in part, to seek financial compensation to help pay for his extensive medical bills from the mesothelioma diagnosis.
Steam locomotives and some diesels were insulated with asbestos.
Insulation was used around boxcars and cabooses, refrigeration units, pipes, and steam and hot water lines.
