Did stripping and insulation work on steam pipes and tanks cause mesothelioma? Our asbestos firm can help.

In recent news about the dangers of asbestos exposure, a father-of-five was diagnosed with the fatal asbestos-related cancer mesothelioma after stripping and insulation work on steam pipes, boilers and tanks.

He died aged 61.

He reportedly spent two years working in contact with asbestos during the early 1960s – long enough for him to contract mesothelioma.

His widow has filed a mesothelioma lawsuit and told a court that her husband first displayed symptoms of the rare cancer in 2006.

She recalled that he was getting more tired. He was starting to take naps in his van at dinner time while working, which was unlike him.

The following Christmas season, he began having chest pains and suffered from a cough and a cold.

He was ultimately diagnosed with mesothelioma and died on August 20 last year.

Reportedly, the first thing the doctor said was, "Have you ever worked around asbestos?"

In fact, while working for building contractors between 1962 and 1964 he was often exposed.

Work there involved asbestos insulation work and stripping steam pipes, boilers, tanks and spinning machines.

"When he finished work, he always came home dusty," she recalled.

Many who have worked with and around asbestos-insulated steam pipes and other equipment have come forward to say their work environment led to a diagnosis of mesothelioma, asbestosis or lung cancer from asbestos.

If this has been your experience, we may be able to help.
