The 82-year-old retired publication manager had been diagnosed with a mesothelioma in July last year.

According to court documents, his daughter said her father had slept under asbestos pipes while on board a Navy submarine during the Second World War.

An autopsy examination revealed he had a malignant pleural mesothelioma.
