Mechanic Dies of Mesothelioma From Work-Related Asbestos Exposure. Widow sees opportunity to educate the public on the health risk.

A woman whose husband, a mechanic, died after working with asbestos 40 years ago, now worries it could harm her. She was exposed secondhand, via his asbestos dust-coated clothing, according to the Feb. 20, 2008 edition of the Tameside Advertiser in the UK.

The article says her husband, a former mechanic who was exposed to asbestos while working in a power station and chemical company in the 1960s and 70s, was only 62 when he was diagnosed with deadly mesothelioma. He died just three months later.

According to the Advertiser, his wife is speaking out to highlight the dangers of asbestos exposure. She cites plumbers and electricians as particularly susceptable to the health risks of coming in contact with it.
