A 75-year-old baker who worked in a biscuit factory died from mesothelioma, reported the Reading Evening Post on June 19, 2008.
The man had worked at the biscuit factory between 1950 and 1956, according to
the Post.
Before he died, he reportedly described how he had to
clean large galvanised iron tanks used for export.
In those comments he
revealed that every tank contained white fibrous substance at the
bottom.
He said he and other workers had to get into the tanks to clean
them and got the white dust on their
clothes and in their hair.
Tragically, he said he heard managers talking
about the substance and they said it was asbestos. Those managers, however, failed to
warn him of the dangers of asbestos
exposure.
Sadly, this situation is all too familiar to the attorneys in the Weitz &
Luxenberg P.C. Asbestos Litigation unit here in the United States.
