Mesothelioma Sufferers in Yorkshire Will Get Compensation
Yorkshire, UK - Under a new law, the government has decided to award an up-front sum of £10,000 to all mesothelioma victims within 6 weeks after their diagnosis.
Because mesothelioma sufferers live for an average of only 9 months after diagnosis, a large number of sufferers have died before received compensation. Therefore, the new law was approved with the purpose of helping victims of asbestos contamination receive compensation in a more timely fashion.
The new law is expected to benefit about 600 people a year and cost the government £6m for the first two years, but the money will be recovered by the government through court battles with the companies held liable.
