Number of men and women dying of mesothelioma surges. Let us fight for your right to compensation if you have been harmed by asbestos.
An area in Southwest England is experiencing a rise in the number of people dying from mesothelioma, according to a report in the Dorset Echo on July 18, 2008.
According to the article, Dorset is an area that is likely to be particularly affected because of the former dockyards at Portland and the link with the Royal Navy. Many people also settled in this area after leaving the Navy.
Many of those who served in ships in the merchant navy or Royal Navy were exposed to it as asbestos was highly popular as a material used in shipbuilding.
A man with mesothelioma who was interviewed in the article recalled that he was exposed to asbestos during his apprenticeship and after qualifying as an electrical engineer.
He said he often had to work in tunnels where steam and water pipes were lagged with asbestos and where the lagging often got knocked and damaged. He stated some tunnels were poorly ventilated.
He also worked close to boilers where pipework was lagged in asbestos.
Sadly, this situation, where exposure to asbestos was easily preventable, is all too familiar to the mesothelioma attorneys in the Weitz & Luxenberg P.C. Asbestos Litigation unit.
