Owner of office chair not liable for negligence over injuries from chair collapse

The Insurance Journal has reported that a lawyer is not liable for negligence due to injuries caused by the collapse of a chair in his office.

The chair collapsed when a visitor to the lawyer’s office sat on the chair. The visitor weighed approximately 330 pounds.
