Owner of office chair not liable for negligence over injuries from chair collapse
The Insurance Journal has reported that a lawyer is not liable for negligence due to injuries caused by the collapse of a chair in his office.
The chair collapsed when a visitor to the lawyer’s office sat on the chair. The visitor weighed approximately 330 pounds. The visitor then sued the lawyer for negligence for the injuries that he sustained. The court held that the lawyer was not liable for negligence because there was no evidence to show that he was aware of the chair’s condition.
