Ashland Lawsuit-
Cancer and the Nyanza Dye Plant of Ashland
Looking for information about an Ashland, MA lawsuit? Residents of Ashland are at an increased risk of developing cancer due to environmental pollution in their community.
The Massachusetts Department of Health released a report yesterday directing blame of cancer findings in the Ashland area towards the former Nyanza Textile Dye Plant.
Children exposed to water in certain areas on and near the Nyanza grounds developed cancer two to three times more often than peers who avoided the contaminated water, the Department of Public Health said yesterday.
Health investigators looked at why so many people who were between the ages of 10 and 18 in Ashland between 1965 and 1985 became sick, many with rare forms of cancer including skin, brain, testicular, tongue and kidney cancers.
State health officials said yesterday they discovered the young fell victim to Nyanza workers who recklessly buried barrel after barrel of chemicals filled with mercury, arsenic, chromium, cadmium, paints and heavy metals.
