The Wall Street Journal Reports that the price of several forms of birth control, including the Ortho Evra birth control patch, is increasing by as much as 200 percent.

This is mainly due to a change in the deals that manufacturers have with schools. From an economist's viewpoint, pharmaceutical companies have everything to gain by reaching new clients while they're young who will start paying full price when they graduate.

These changes in price could also have a positive impact. When it comes to Ortho Evra, there is an added risk of developing a heart atack or stroke as a reult of clotting issues.
