With So Much Damage Done, See Who is Responsible for the Harm Paxil Has Caused

Placing Blame Where It Belongs

Is GlaxoSmithKline responsible? It has been selling Paxil (paroxetine) since 1993.

It took them until December of 2005 to concede that Paxil was causing serious birth defects in babies' hearts!

FDA has asked GSK to change the pregnancy category [labeling on Paxil] from C to D, a more serious warning.

Category D means that studies in pregnant women (controlled or observational) have demonstrated a risk to the fetus. But, the benefits of therapy may outweigh the potential risks to the fetus.

Based on results of the preliminary data, GSK updated the drug's labeling in September 2005 to add data from one study.

As additional data have become available, [as of December, 2005] the label has now been changed to reflect the latest information from the two studies and to change the pregnancy category.

GSK was fully aware that their drug put pregnant women in danger. But since they were profiting so much from the sales of Paxil, they were very slow to make study results available to the FDA and the public. The pharmaceutical industry is ultimately driven by profits, not by an interest in patients' health.

You can fight back against GSK and force them to take responsibility for the injuries your baby has needlessly suffered.

If GSK had disclosed Paxil's side effects when they first knew about them, thousands of children could have avoided surgery.

But GSK's bottom line did not include keeping these babies safe; it included only turning a profit at any cost.

Don't let GSK get away with this. Let the lawyers at Weitz & Luxenberg help you with your Paxil lawsuit and fight for the health and future of your baby.
