What is Tetrachloroethylene/Perchloroethylene (PERC/PCE)?
Tetrachloroethylene is also known as perchloroethylene, PCE or PERC. The chemical is widely used in the dry cleaning industry and in other industrial settings. PERC is also used in some consumer products.
PERC is also used in coal processing plants and float-sink coal labs in West Virginia. Workers at these facilities have been exposed to this dangerous chemical, which is known to cause a number of health problems.
Inhaling PERC vapors can cause central nervous system problems such as dizziness, drowsiness and memory loss. PERC can also cause problems in coordination and visual perception.
PERC has been branded a potential carcinogen by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the National Toxicology Program and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC).
Our environmental attorneys have extensive courtroom experience and an in-depth understanding of the environmental laws involving PERC exposure.
