Playground Safety: Balance Beams
Although balance beams may be the simplest piece of playground equipment in the playground, they are not injury-proof.
To avoid injuries during falls from the balance beam, balance beams should be no higher than:
• Preschool-Age Children: 12 inches.
• School-Age Children: 16 inches.
