Quadriplegia

Quadriplegia Results in Permanent Impairment

Quadriplegia, also known as tetraplegia, means paralysis of all four limbs. This condition occurs when the neck area of the spinal cord is injured.

Typical causes include trauma, such as a car crash, fall, or sports injury; disease, such as polio; or congenital disorders, such as muscular dystrophy. Medical malpractice also contributes to this disorder in rare instances.

Symptoms will vary from person to person depending on the severity of the injury and its location on the spine. Typically, the arms, legs and internal organs will exhibit some level of impaired functioning.
