Rochester's Democrat & Chronicle newspaper has just written about
a preliminary report on Bausch & Lomb's first-quarter sales and
earnings.
According to the Chronicle, B&L said lower 2006
results were largely due to impact of the worldwide recall of the company’s Renu
MoistureLoc solution during 2006.
The recall was spawned by the growing
number of contact-lens wearers whose eyesight has been harmed by tainted bottles
of the solution.
Reportedly, B&L has set aside $19.1 million during
the first quarter of 2006 to deal customer returns and other related
costs.
