American Association for Justice Looks to Block Nomination of Mike Baroody
The American Association for Justice (AAJ), formerly known as the American Association of Trial Lawyers, is joining the efforts of several consumer advocacy groups to block the nomination of Mike Baroody, Executive Vice President of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) to serve as the new chair of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
During his tenure with NAM, Mr. Baroody actively lobbied against the rights of Americans exposed to asbestos and to hold the responsible companies accountable. NAM was quoted as describing the efforts of groups representing the interests of those exposed to asbestos and diagnosed with Mesothelioma and other lung diseases associated with exposure to asbestos as "an anchor weighing down the business community."
If you wish to express your concerns regarding the possible appointment of Mr. Baroody, you should contact your Senator(s). You can locate their contact information here.
