Rosiglitazone, a commonly used drug for those with type 2 diabetes, is sold under the brand names Avandia, Avandamet and Avandaryl, each of which is made by GlaxoSmithKline.

Rosiglitazone is used to lower the amount of sugar in the blood. It belongs to the family of drugs called thiazolidinediones.

This drug is available in tablets of 2 mg, 4 mg, and 8 mg, and is only available through a prescription.

The pill is taken once or twice daily, and can be taken alone or in conjunction with other medications.

The most common side effects for rosiglitazone include upper respiratory infection, headache, back pain, hyperglycemia, fatigue, sinusitis, diarrhea and hypoglycemia.

A recent study found that rosiglitazone significantly increases the risk of heart attacks and other cardiovascular events.
