Reuters Reports on the FDA Warning Sent to Stryker Corporation
On January, 15, 2008, Reuters news service reported that the Food and
Drug Administration had sent a stern warning to Stryker Corporation.
In a breaking news story, Reuters noted that the FDA’s letter, which
was also posted on its website, “warned artificial hip and knee maker Stryker
Corp (SYK.N) about manufacturing problems linked to malfunctioning hip parts, at
times serious enough to require additional surgeries to fix.”
According to a review of Stryker’s financial reports, Reuters found
the “company's hip, knee and shoulder implants are a major revenue generator,
with worldwide sales of $2.6 billion for the first nine months of 2007,
according to the company's most recent financial report."
