Learn About Drug Interactions--Things to Avoid While Taking Accutane

There are several things to steer clear of when taking Accutane. Patients who use this drug should be absolutely vigilant about potential drug interactions.

One of these is Vitamin A. As a supplement, it is necessary to eliminate it immediately at the start of a course of Accutane. Doing so is essential because Vitamin A raises the potential for Accutane side effects.

Accutane is formed naturally in the body from the Vitamin A present in the bloodstream. This is why large amounts of Vitamin A taken during pregnancy cause the same birth defects that Accutane does.

Tetracycline is an antibiotic that dermatologists prescribe for acne. So this antibiotic should never be used in tandem with Accutane. This is because it significantly raises the risk of pseudotumor cerebri when these drugs are used together.

And please be advised: Accutane use comes with its own share of adverse events.

If you are worried about the potential harm that may come from using Accutane, make sure to be in touch with your doctor.

For more information about potential legal claims surrounding Accutane use, please contact the Weitz & Luxenberg client relations department. You can fill out this simple form, call us at 1 (800) 476-6070, or email us at clientrelations@weitzlux.com.
