February 3, 2010--A woman who was pinned against a brick wall by a Toyota Camry, and a Toyota Tundra driver who claims her pickup truck accelerated out of control, have filed a federal lawsuit against Toyota, according to Cincinnati.com.
Their lawyer said he will seek class-action status for owners of Toyotas with sticking accelerator pedals.
In one accident, a woman was injured when a Toyota Camry suddenly accelerated, jumped a concrete wheel stop and pinned her to a wall. Both her legs were crushed.
She said she was suing Toyota because she believes the car that struck her was defective.
Another lawsuit claims a couple's 2007 Toyota Tundra unexpectedly accelerated. Reportedly, as they approached a railroad track just before an intersection, their pickup truck accelerated, left the road, hit an embankment and rolled over the railroad tracks, according to the suit.
The pickup is included in Toyota's recall 2010.
The lawsuits come days after Toyota officials announced the company will begin fixing accelerator pedals in more than 2 million vehicles that have been recalled.
Company officials also have said they will address complaints that floor mats can become entangled with the pedals on some vehicles.
