On January 21, 2010, Toyota issued a recall of 2.3 million vehicles "to correct sticking accelerator pedals."
According to Insideline.com, a journalistic site devoted to information about the automobile industry, in informational materials sent to dealers, Toyota says there is a "possibility that certain accelerator pedal mechanisms may, in rare instances, mechanically stick in a partially depressed position or return slowly to the idle position."
