VAPOR INTRUSION ATTORNEY:
Hear what recent studies say about
Dangerous
vapor intrusion

In order for the public to better understand the threat and the dangers of
vapor intrusion, we've reviewed recent studies on the subject and offer that information here, said an attorney at the personal injury law firm of Weitz & Luxenberg.
Over the last 20 years,
several studies have been conducted to determine the extent of public exposures
to organic and man-made chemicals. Most of these studies on vapor intrusion
employed personal air monitors that added up exposures from all locations
visited by the subjects. However, many of these studies also included dedicated
indoor air sampling, where measurements were taken in an indoor fixed location.
Most of these studies were done in urban areas throughout the United
States, but some studies were conducted in other countries. In total, over 1,000
homes were sampled. While small contributions from outdoor air concentrations of
volatiles can occur, indoor levels are frequently much higher due to indoor
sources of these chemicals. <BR>Therefore, the results from these various
studies indicate the range of expected volatile concentrations resulting from
the use of consumer products, the presence of home furnishings, building
materials, and activities such as smoking and cooking.
