The veteran was was born in Aberdeen, WA. His family moved to Edmonds and then to Bremerton where he graduated from high School in 1942.
He joined the U.S. Merchant Marines where he served in the engine rooms of tankers, Victory ships, C-2 cargo ships in the South Pacific during WWII.
He married in 1946, and he and his wife owned and operated a small supply store in Seattle and enjoyed traveling the world. He was very active until his illness.
The veteran is survived by his loving wife of 63 yrs, a daughter, son, and four grandchildren.

Asbestos exposure was especially prevalent for service members since it was used throughout ships and machinery from the 1930s through the 1970s.
