Information Regarding our Veterans: Santa Fe Clinic

Do you need to contact the Santa Fe Veterans Clinic? 2213 Brothers Road, Suite #600 Santa Fe, NM 87505 Phone: (505) 986-8645.

Could you have been exposed to asbestos? Read the following to see if you fall under a category at risk. The following is a list of those with higher chance of developing an asbestos-related disease:

  • Anyone with breathing problems
  • Those with extended exposure to asbestos
  • Individuals who think they have had ongoing exposure to asbestos
  • Immediate family members of those who have worked in asbestos-related fields, even if the individual who worked with asbestos has no obvious signs of exposure or troubles with their respiratory system
The following are the ailments which are associated with asbestos exposure: lung cancer, asbestosis (a serious, chronic, non cancerous fibrous hardening and scarring of the lungs), mesothelioma (a cancer of the thin membranes lining the thoracic and abdominal cavities and surrounding internal organs), and pleural plaque and thickening (scarring of the lining of the lung). The main indicators of asbestos-related diseases are coughing, coughing blood, shortness of breath, chest pain and weight loss. Unfortunately, these symptoms of contact with asbestos can appear up to 25 years after initial exposure. Annual or even semi-annual asbestos detection tests are recommended.

It is recommended to seek a doctor's advice if you presume that you have been exposed to asbestos. Initial testing is an x-ray (side and front view of your chest.) Further tests may include a pulmonary function test, blood work, a CT scan and/or biopsy.

Surviving with asbestos-related diseases can be very difficult. Weitz & Luxenberg can help relieve some of the burden by providing you with a free case evaluation. Your first step is to fill out the form below.
