Weitz & Luxenberg has a history of protecting everyday individuals. We care about our clients. We go the extra mile. To me, the most satisfying part about my work is the time I spend with my clients, getting to know them, caring about them, helping them in a time when help is needed most. Weitz & Luxenberg’s attorneys are renowned for their extraordinary trial skills, but, even more than that, they have great compassion for the people they’re here to help.
An adroit litigator and negotiator, Mary Grabish Gaffney concentrates on representing clients suffering asbestos-related illnesses as well as those alleging other forms of personal-injury harm. Over the course of her career, she has served as lead attorney on over 300 bench and jury trials, and has successfully negotiated multi-million-dollar settlements on behalf of her clients.
In 2016, for the fifth year in a row, Ms. Gaffney was named a New Jersey “Top 40 under 40” attorney by the National Trial Lawyers Assn., an honor reserved for attorneys who exemplify superior qualifications, trial results and leadership as a young trial lawyer. Additionally, the National Trial Lawyers designated Ms. Gaffney a 2015 Top 100 trial lawyer. Also in 2015, the National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys awarded her the designation of “Top 10 under 40.”
Ms. Gaffney also is a seven-time New Jersey Super Lawyers “Rising Star” in the categories of product liability and personal injury, paralleling her designation in 2010 and 2012 as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyers “Rising Star” in those same sectors.
Before joining Weitz & Luxenberg in 2010, Gaffney was an associate at Locks Law Firm in Philadelphia. Prior to that, she held a post as a Philadelphia assistant public defender, assigned to the city’s Major Felony Trial Unit.
Gaffney studied law at Temple University, completing the juris doctor program there in 2002. While an undergraduate at Catholic University of America, she played women’s varsity soccer and spent a year attending Universidad de Valladolid in Spain. Ms. Gaffney was born and raised in North Wales, Penn.; she resides in the Philadelphia suburbs.
